Recipe: Oreo Truffles

Hey guys, it me Ayesha again! :)

I posted a picture on my Instagram (@ayshqweeks) of these Oreo truffles I made and asked my followers if they'd like to know how to make them, I got a resounding YES so here it is.

I found this recipe on a Youtube channel called Popsugar Girls Guide. If you're interested, keep reading!

We thought it might be a pretty cool idea if we posted a few recipes here and there on our blog too.. What do you guys think?

Ingredients:

2 packs of 'double stuff' Oreos
4 ounces of cream cheese (I'd say 1 and a half table spoons)
1 bar of white chocolate
1 bar of milk chocolate

Directions:

1. Place the 2  packets of Oreos in the food processor and crush them so they become small crumbs (save a 1/4 of the crumbs for garnish at the end).

2. In a large bowl mix the crumbs and cream cheese together with your hands (get's messy!)

3. Once mixed the consistency of the mixture will be dough like.

4. Then roll the mixture into 1 inch balls with your hands and place them on wax paper (optional) or just a baking tray.

5. Place in the freezer for 15 mins.

6. While the Oreo balls are cooling in the freezer, both milk and white chocolate can be melted. To melt, take a pan and boil water. Place a heat resistance bowl on top of the pan and melt the chocolate in the bowl (if you're lazy, you can melt it in the microwave using a microwave-safe bowl).

7. To decorate you can either dip half of the balls into white chocolate and the other half in milk chocolate or you can dip the balls in one type of chocolate and drizzle the other on top, it's entirely up to you.. Get a little creative!

8. Once the chocolate is melted you can get the Oreo balls out the freezer and start decorating them. If you decide to decorate half and half, using a fork to pick up the balls out the melted chocolate as this could be a bit tricky.

9. Once decorated you can now sprinkle the Oreo truffles with the Oreo crumbs that we saved at the beginning.

10. Place the Oreo truffles in the fridge to set the chocolate.

11. Lastly, enjoy your yummy little treats.

Here are the end goodies!

*licks lips*

I decided to dip all the balls in white chocolate and used milk chocolate to drizzle but like I said earlier, you can design them however you like. My favourite way to eat these treats is with a big cup of cold milk (ahh perfection!) My family loved them.

Let us know if you had a go at making them.. You can tag us in your pictures on Instagram too, just #houseofdemure, we'd love to see!

Hope you enjoyed this little recipe!

Until next time,
Byeee!

OOTD: The Vintage Shirt

Morning all, it's Ayesha!

I thought I'd share a typical 'uni outfit' with you.. Well I say typical, but this is actually a 'I don't need to go in early tomorrow so I can spend more time choosing an outfit' type of day!
Hijab - I can't remember (sorry) // Vintage Shirt - Depop // Trench Coat - Zara // Jeans - H&M // Loafers - Topshop //
Bag - H&M // Watch - Marc Jacobs
I usually wear a bigger bag to uni, but I didn't have a lab coat or big notebooks to hold so I took full advantage!
Bye for now!

Back to Basics: My Everyday Makeup (Nazma)

Firstly I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to all our readers for taking time out to have a read of our blog.. We really appreciate it and we're bursting with future post ideas for you guys (including edible things, yay!) We really hope you like what you're reading so far.

Just in-case you didn't know, we also have an Instagram page @houseofdemure where we post little bits and bobs too (link is above). You can suggest things you'd like to see from us on there and tell us your opinions and recommendations on products ect too. We would love to know!

Anyway back on to the post.. Oh and it's Nazma by the way (I forgot to mention in all that excitement!) I thought I should go back to basics and share my everyday makeup with you guys. To some it may a lot which is fine but for me it works. Well given the timescale I leave for my face in the morning (not a lot.. Believe me) it works!

Here are all the products I use:

I've put them in the same order I apply them.
  1. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Stromboli
  2. MAC Pro-Long Wear Concealer in NW25
  3. Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Banana
  4. Anastacia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Soft Brown
  5. Rimmel Brow Setter in Clear
  6. Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder
  7. MAC Blusher in Gngerly
  8. MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
  9. L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara
I actually want to stop wearing foundation on a daily basis. I'm currently looking into tinted moisturisers and BB creams. Let me know if you can recommend any good ones to me!

I posted this on our Instagram a few days ago. My holy grail blusher! It's a lovely peach colour. A dupe is Sleek's blusher in Suede!

If any of you haven't tried this mascara then YOU NEED TO, it's amazing! I don't usually like the plastic brushes but it does the trick so I'm not complaining. ViviannaDoesMakeup said it's the 'Only Mascara For Her!' You can read the full review here -

I use this just to brighten up my eyelid.

Again.. Another Holy Grail!

Another short post.. Until next time!

Review: Makeup Eraser

Hi girls, it's Nazia with a review for you today!

The subject of today's review is the famous Makeup Eraser, some of you may have heard of this product (and didn't really think much of it) whereas some of you may love it just as much as I do. I'll be giving you the low down on this genius invention.

This is what the official website claims..

"The Makeup Eraser cloth removes make up completely and quickly using no chemical or cleanser, saving the user money and time each and every day. This gentle cleansing process promotes healthy facial skin because it does not affect the skin's natural acid mantle. The Make Up Eraser is made from a specially knitted polyester/silk fibre which is many times finer than human hair, when wet the eraser creates a hydro-mechanical process that breaks the surface tension of the oils that bond make up to the skin. Makeup Eraser even removes waterproof and smear-proof mascara, HD makeup and lipstick. The Eraser is double sided and has a slightly longer nap on one side for gentle exfoliation, whilst the other shorter side is for the 100% removal of all makeup, the Eraser is suitable for all skin types, even for the most sensitive and troublesome skin." -  http://www.makeuperaser.co.uk/faq-236.html.

My Opinion..

I can truly say that I totally agree with everything written above. I have always used a makeup remover which had chemicals and sometimes even alcohol in it, which we all know is bad for our skin. So when I came across this product I was a little sceptical at the fact that this pink polyester cloth will remove all my makeup and even the stubborn waterproof makeup, but to my surprise, just warm water did the trick. It was shocking! Quick and easy with no messing around. One side is for erasing the makeup and the other can be used as a gentle exfoliator. Did I also mention it's machine washable (we all know how convenient this can be.. Stick it in with the colours wash.. Job done). It lasts 1000 washes (which for me is definitely worth the money). It does look a mess when you're finished with it, which may shock you looking at how much makeup is left on the cloth but it just shows it's removed more or less all of your makeup. Once I've used the makeup eraser I go straight into my normal night time cleansing routine.

I purchased mine off Ebay for £15 including p&p, but on the UK website it is selling for £15.99 with £2.51 p&p.

It is well worth it girls, spending a little bit now will be well worth it in the long run. It's super travel friendly and no repurchasing is involved.. Well after it's been used 1000x it is but you get what I mean!

Hope you all enjoyed my first post!

OOTD: Black Is My Safe Colour

Hi everyone reading, it's Nazma with another outfit of the day. I met with a really good friend last weekend for a spot of afternoon tea at the cutest vintage themed tearoom I've come across, I wanted to steal all the vintage china! *heart eyes* (I'll add a snap of what we had at the end of this post), we went shopping too.. Obviously!

On to the outfit..

I've linked everything I'm wearing that's still in stock.
It was a dull day and clearly I didn't know what to wear, hence why I chose Black. When in doubt.. Wear Black! As they say.
Black Trench - Zara // Black Turtleneck Jumper - H&M // Black Jeans - Topshop // Black Loafers - ASOS //
Mustard Scarf - Zara // Bag - Zara
I wore a polka dot scarf I got from Zara in a turban style on my head with some pearl earrings.

Here's what we had this afternoon.. It was lovely!
A pot of Yorkshire Tea, fresh scones with jam and clotted cream, cheese and cucumber, hummus and pickle sandwiches and lemon drizzle cake to finish.. YUM!

Hope you liked this short outfit of the day!

Until next time,

Makeup Look: A Pop of Sparkle

Hi, it's Ayesha, today I did this makeup look on Nazma. I call it a pop of sparkle as everything is pretty neutral and the lid add a little BAM!

I've tried to separate all the steps I took to create this look and put them into categories (eyes, face, lips) so it doesn't get confusing (I hope it helps). Also, I'm going to go in order from what I did first to last.

So lets get started!

The eyes -

The products I used..
  1. Lorac Pro Palette
  2. Huda Beauty Lashes in Samantha
  3. Urban Decay Primer Potion
  4. MAC Silver Dust
  5. MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
  6. MAC Fluid Line Brow Gel Creme in Deep Dark Brunette
  7. Rimmel Gel Eyeliner in Black
  8. Body Shop Eyebrow Palette (used to touch up, using same brush)
  9. Rimmel Eyeliner in Nude
  10. Maybelline Colossal Mascara in Black
  11. MAC Extended Play Gigablack Mascara
  12. Rimmel 'Brow This' in Clear
  13. Huda Beauty Lash Glue
The brushes I used..
From left to right
  1. Sigma Large Shader E60
  2. Sigma Tapered Blending E40
  3. Sigma Blending E25
  4. Sigma Pencil E30
  5. Random Brush from Ebay (probably a fake MAC one.. haha)
  6. Sigma Eyeliner E05
  7. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brush #12
  8. Real Technique Brush Base Shadow Brush
  9. Real Technique Essential Crease Brush
I started off with the eyes as I knew I would have lots of fall outs onto her face from the eye shadows. It will just be easier to wipe it all away once I've finished.

So firstly I used a strip of sellotape and lined it up against the bottom eyelash going upwards to get a sharp edge for the eye shadow/liner.

Then I applied Urban Decay primer potion all over the lid up to the brow bone.

Then Painterly paint pot by mac was applied all over the lid also up to the brow bone.

Then I reached for one of my favourite palettes the Lorac Pro Palette, I picked up Taupe (my fave! I've hit pan! *crying face*) on a E40 brush (also my fave) and brushed that all over the crease.

Then I picked up Sable from the same pallete with a E25 brush and concentrated the colour in the lower crease.

I then went back in with the E40 with no additional product and blended it all together (will do this step multiple times during this look to make sure everything is blended smoothly).

Then I picked up Espresso on the Real Technique essential crease brush and darkened the edge of the eye not the crease.

Now for the Piece de rĂ©sistance.. The sparkle! I picked up a E60 brush and sprayed it with fix + spray, I then dipped the brush in MAC Silver dust. (The use of fix + is crucial as it allows the pigment to become more vibrant and also it can be handled a lot easier as it it a loose pigment, otherwise it will go everywhere if you're not careful).

Now for the tricky bit the eye liner. I tried to create a feline/cat eye shaped liner. I used E05 brush and dipped it in Rimmel black gel eyeliner and perfected the flick (the part where I like to take the most time, as everything needs to be even and perfect).

To create the extra glam look, I added lashes. I used Huda Beauty Lashes in Samantha using Huda Beauty lash glue (which is a black glue and drys in 3 SECONDS aprox.. Amazing right?) The Samantha lashes have the perfect balance between being whispy and dramatic (the Giselle lashes are more understated and more wearable if you are not used to wearing lashes).

I applied Maybelline Colossal mascara in Black to blend the natural and false eyelashes together.

For the bottom lash line I did this after the foundation and concealer, I smudged Sable and Espresso under the lash line with the E30 brush to balance out the top of the eyes with the bottom, which is key as you don't want a unbalanced look on the eyes.

On the lower waterline I used Rimmel eyeliner in Nude.

Lastly I applied MAC extended play gigablack (holy grail) to the bottom eyelashes.

My trustee Lorac Pro Pallete - I used the shades Taupe, Sable and Espresso.

Eyebrows -  For the eyebrows I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills brush in number 12, and brushed all the brows upwards.

I then dipped the brush in MAC fluid line brow gel creme in deep dark Brunette and focused the product on the outer part of the eye brow as this part should to be defined, whereas the inner part should have the least amount of product.

I kept using the spooly to blend throughout.

To finish off I used the Rimmel 'brow this way' in clear.

On to the face..
The products I used..
  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette
  2. Bobbi Brown Blush in Tawny
  3. Mac Prep & Prime
  4. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Stromboli
  5. Maybelline 'The Eraser Eye' in Nude
  6. the Balm May-Lou Manizer
The brushes I used on her face..
From left to right
  1. Sigma F60
  2. Sigma F35
  3. Sigma F80
  4. NARS Mie Kabuki Brush
  5. Sigma F40
  6. Real Technique Blush Brush
  7. Real Technique Essential Crease Brush
  8. Eco Tools Fan Brush
  9. NARS ITA Brush
I prepared the face with MAC prep and prime (naturally haha) and allowed that to set for about 5 mins.

Then I used one pump of the NARS sheer glow foundation in Stomboli and dotted that around the face and buffed that in with the F80 brush.

Then I went on to apply the 'Eraser Eye' in nude under the eye in a triangle shape, I also applied it down the nose, on the forehead, top of the lip and lastly on the chin and blended that in with the F60.

I set everything with the Banana shade in the Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit  using the NARS Mie brush.

Then I went in to the contouring (love this part). I mixed all 3 contour shades in the palette and went straight into contouring the cheeks and blended upwards. I applied a little on the temples but non on the forehead, as Nazma has a pretty small forehead, it was needed.

I then applied the Bobbi Brown blush in Tawny on a Real Techniques blush brush on the apples of the cheeks and blended outwards.

I then picked up to the Eco Tools fan brush and used the Mary-Lou Manizer on the tops of the cheeks, bridge and end of her nose and on her cupid's bow.

Lastly, Nazma convinced me to contour her nose (which I thought was unnecessary.. But you know, seen as she's the big sis I have to.. haha). So I took the Real Technique essential crease brush and used the cool toned contour shade (Fawn) and made two lines on each side of the nose and the tip and blended.

The Lips..
  1. Fix +
  2. MAC Velvet Teddy
  3. Rimmel Lip Liner in Spice
  4. Emite Makeup L312 Brush
I lined Nazma's lips with Rimmel lip liner in Spice and applied MAC's velvet teddy and blended the lip liner and lipstick together with the Emite makeup brush in L312.

Lastly, I finished with a generous spritz of Mac fix +.

The end look!

If you'd like me to review any of the products I used in this post, I'd be more than happy to. My next post is most likely to be a review of the Sigma brushes I've used so watch out for that.

Again, please excuse the poor camera quality, it won't be for long!

Hope you enjoyed this post!
