Eid Lookbook: Inayah Collection

Hey girls, hope you're all well?

We've been so excited to share this with you because it's the first post that all 3 of us have got involved in and believe me it's been so much fun! I'm sure you've already clicked on to what we've been working on.. Yep! You guessed it.. An Inayah Collection Lookbook just in time to give you guys some inspiration for Eid that's just around the corner! We did post a pic on our instagram @houseofdemure so we kinda ruined the surprise but oh well, we'll hold our excitement next time!

We wanted to work on putting some outfits together as Nazia recently recieved a lovely little Inayah package at her front door full of goodies, we thought it would be perfect to do a lookbook. We split duties in 3.. Nazia was our model, Ayesha was the touch up lady and pose co-ordinator (that exsists now by the way) and Nazma was the photographer and director.. Sounds very pro right?

We've used 4 clothing pieces from Inayah and 2 Inayah hijabs. Unfortunately some things are out of stock so we were unable to link them, sorry. But everything that is still in stock we've linked and things that aren't, we've linked some similar. We had styling ideas flying all over the place but managed to whittle it down to 2 casual looks and 2 evening looks; this is how we'd typically style these particular pieces.

Casual Look #1

Striped Top - H&M // Pallazo Pants - // Shoes - Dorothy Perkins // Watch - Pandora // Tassel Bag - H&M

Casual Look #2

Hijab - Primark // Jeans - H&M // Shoes - Zara // Bag - Zara // Watch - Michael Kors

Evening Look #1

The Mink Abaya - £54.99 (not in stock anymore but linked one very similar)
Hijab - New Look // Trench Waistcoat - Topshop // Shoes - Mango // Bag - Mango // Watch - Pandora

Evening Look #2

Deep Berry Basic Tunic - £34.99 and Black Hijab (no longer in stock but linked one similar)
Jeans - Topshop // Necklace - Forever21 // Shoes - Primark // Clutch - Zara // Watch - Pandora

DIY: Frayed Hem Jeans

Good morning/afternoon or evening to all our lovely readers depending on when you read this, it's Ayesha with a simple DIY post for you today.

Me and my sisters were in Topshop the other day and Nazma wanted to buy some frayed jeans.. If you don't know what frayed jeans are, they're basically jeans that have been ripped quite aggressively at the bottom but look surprisingly good. I think they're a love/hate thing but we personally love them. (Who knew the day would come when people would actually be paying money for ripped jeans, haha!)

I came across a video on Youtube of somebody doing it themselves to an old pair of jeans which I suggested to Nazma. We thought it'd be good to experiment, save money and make a blog post for you guys of course.

I've put together this pictorial and split them into steps, hoping that I've made it as clear as I can.. You guys should give it a go, you'll love the result if you like frayed jeans!

 Step 1 -
What you'll need:
The jeans you want to fray (these are Nazma's inexpensive jeggings from Zara that were too long for her)
Scissors
A marker or pen
Eyebrow plucker

 Step 2 -
Try the jeans on and ask someone to mark where you want to cut them on each leg.

 Step 3 -
CHOP CHOP!
Cut straight across the hem, try following the line all the way across.

 Step 4 -
Do this to both legs.. Should look something like above.

Step 5 -
Grab the eyebrow plucker and start plucking away on the thread.

 Step 6 -
Depending on how long you want the fray to be, pluck more at the thread to make the fray longer.

 Step 7 -
It should start looking like above.. Again if you want the fray longer, pluck more, but Nazma didn't want them longer than this so we stopped here on both hems.

 Step 8 -
The end look!

How they look on.. Cute right?

It's as easy as that. The best thing about this is that it's supposed to look messy so don't worry if you mess up, the messier the better in my opinion.

Hope you liked this quick DIY post, let me know if you'd like to see more DIY posts.

Review: Current Concealers

Hey guys, we thought we'd do a review on some concealers we've been using. I think it's safe to say we'd tried out a lot so I hope you all benefit from this in some way! :)

Let's get started..
From Left to Right

MAC Studio Finish - This is the first ever MAC concealers I purchased (aww the memories!) I got this is in NW25 and really like the fact that it comes in a little tub as you can control how much is used and in my opinion lasts a lot longer too. Although MAC describe this concealer as 'A lightweight, creamy, discreetly opaque concealer', for me this concealer is too heavy to wear everyday and creases a lot under the eyes. Something I've learnt whilst using this concealer is to try avoid using a heavy hand when applying it as it just results in cakeiness which is never a good look. Saying that, it's amazing for covering up blemishes but as good under the eye area. The consistency is thick but has excellent coverage. I think it's perfect for an evening event, wedding ect. A day when you're going to have makeup on all day and need something reliable, something you don't need to top up mid day. I don't think this concealer will work well for people with dry skin as the consistency isn't runny in the slightest but has more of a creamy thick texture which won't moisturise dry skin and/or may get caught on the flakey bits. I think it's definitely one to have for occasions but like I said for me it is way too heavy for everyday. This concelar would be great on blemishes or spots as the thickness will disguise the redness going on. It retails at £15.50 and has SPF 35 which is always great!

Benefit Erase Paste - This can be used as a concealer to cover up dark circles or it can be used to correct any pigmentation on your face. I use it as a corrector under my eyes but with a very light hand as it has a very thick consistency and could easily look cakey and crease. It retails at £20.50 which is a descent price for a good concealer. This stuff lasts for a really long time, again like MAC's studio finish, it's in a tub so usage is controllable. We bought ours a year ago and we still have 3/4 left. The big selling point for this product is the brightening effect it gives to the under eye area. It comes in 3 shades (fair, medium and deep) which could be a bit annoying for some people if you're a shade in between. We got it in Medium. The main downfall about this product has to be the major creasing! I would recommend a good setting powder to seal it in place. There has also been a lot of concerns about how oily the formula is too but I haven't noticed (maybe as I set it well.. It really makes all the difference.) In general it's a good concealer but not a must have unfortunately.

Soap & Glory Kick Ass Concealer -  I think Soap & Glory products are overlooked (well not there luscious bath stuff but their makeup!) This concealer has everything you need. It's a small, round compact that includes 2 sizable concealers, a pressed powder, a powder puff and a mirror, amazing right? It only comes in 2 shades (light and medium) but I feel like the colours are darker than light and medium. The light is more light to medium and the medium is more medium to dark (if that makes sense). We got it in Medium. I'd definitely recommend going in store to swatch the colours, you may be pleasantly surprised. So this concealer has 3 steps, step 1 is the lighter peachier shade out of the 2 concealers, this is used firstly to erase any dark circles. Then step 2, the more yellow shade concealer, this is used to cover blemishes and is a heavier coverage than the first. Lastly, step 3, the pressed powder to set everything (where would this concealer be without it!) Although the consistency of the concealers are creamy, they feel surprisingly light on the face. What I love about this concealer is the lasting power, it instantly gives your face a boost when you're having on of them late mornings. I think it's definitely worth a try, it retails at £10.00 which is really good for what you get.

MAC Pro-long Wear - Okay so this has got to be my fave of all the concealers I've tried in my time (and believe me that's a lot!) I purchased this the same time I got the pro-long wear foundation which was a little over 2 years ago and let me tell you, this is always going to be my go-to concealer. I wear this in the shade NW25. The coverage is perfect, medium, maybe to some heavy but very buildable. Sometimes I use this as a foundation and dot it all over my face and it works just as well. The consistency isn't runny at all and just glides on nicely. The only negative I have about this concealer is the bottle, it has a little pump applicator which I don't really like as you can't control how much product will come out. I'm sure whoever else uses this will agree. As I only use it under my eyes and on a few blemishes, half a pump is more than enough but sometimes getting just a half is difficult. But never the less as a whole this is amazing and I will forever be repurchasing. Oh and before I forget, this is £17.00 for 9ml.

MAC Select Moisture Cover - I got this is the shade NW20, I would say this is a must have concealer if you're somebody that likes to have a natural/fresh faced makeup look. It has a dofer applicator and the coverage is light to medium but very buildable. It is moisturising as the name states and would work really well for people with dry under eyes. As always MAC have a huge colour selection so I'm sure you'll find your shade. Out of all the concealers in this review this has to be by far the thinnest in consistency but by no means does this affect the coverage. I will most definitely be repurchasing this. It retails at £15.50 for 5ml.

Maybelline The Eraser Eye - This concealer is a 'perfect and cover concealer' and is an anti-aging one, so it says. To be honest I remember purchasing this after I saw the advert for it and it was one of them adverts that really sold the product. You know what I mean..  The girl with already flawless skin using the product and she looks even more flawless blah blah blah! Well let me tell you, they over-exaggerated slightly. It's supposed to be a 'micro-correcting eye concealer that instantly erases dark circles and fine lines and visibly diminishes under-eye puffiness'. For me this product doesn't really blend well under the eyes, if you have dark circles it doesn't erase them, it makes them stand out even more, the coverage is light and not really buildable and it felt really dry under my eyes. The applicator is a sponge roll on which means you don't need a brush but it only comes in 3 shades (nude, light and medium). Also, the sponge applicator shouldn't get wet which means you can't wash it.. I don't want to imagine how much bacteria is accumulating on there.. YIKES! Basically what I'm trying to say is, this concealer is not very good in my opinion and yes I have learnt my lesson, the moral of this story is, don't be so gullible and fall for the adverts! On the other hand, I bought this in a light shade and used it as a highlight (by putting a triangle shape a little lower than under the eyes) and it works really nice, for a light subtle highlight Retail price: £7.99.

NARS Radiant Cream Concealer - I heard soo many amazing things about this concealer and I regret not caving in to buy it a long time ago. This is the most expensive concealer we've reviewed in this post, retailing at £22.00 (it's worth every penny!) So where do I start, like always, NARS products have the cutest packaging and product design, it has a dofer applicator which again is really good as you can control how much you apply. I got this in the shade 'Custard - Medium 1'. I'd say it has a medium to high coverage and applies very easily as it so creamy and just glides on. The only negative I'd say is that this concealer creases like crazy if you don't set it properly. As it's creamy, it sets more so in the fine lines under the eyes. This product can be also used to conceal spots as it doesn't have a lot of reflective properties, so with the texture it will glide over any stubborn spots which is a plus. Overall I love the coverage this concealer gives but the creasing lets it down.

L.A Girl Pro-Conceal - So there was a huge buzz over this concealer, the coverage is medium to full and they have a such a wide range (18 shades to be precise) so you will definitely find one perfect for you. The packaging is a basic squeeze tube with a brush applicator, it dispenses very smoothly. In my opinion the brush applicator is great as it allows you to precisely apply the concealer and you can use it as a contour too as the brush allows you to control how much you apply. As they have so many shades, you can get a lighter colour to use as a highlight  and a darker shade to use as a contour to sculpt out the face. On the other hand the applicator is not that great as the product does not come out as nicely as a dofer applicator for example. So it's all about personal preference. The concealer itself is great and so affordable. It doesn't crease or look cakey and lasts a very long time. The only negative I have is that the product drys super fast so once you apply it to your face you have a limited time to blend it in. I have it the colour 'Natural' which is a little pinky for me but I've made it work, As I ordered it from the internet, the shade isn't perfect (always happens when you order online!) It retails for £5.00.. yeah that's right FIVE POUNDS (frikkin amazing!) All in all I think this concealer is amazing for the price and  definitely worth a try.. If you don't like it at least you haven't broken the bank! You can buy them online on Amazon.

We hope that we've sparked an interest in trying new concealers after reading our reviews on the 8 above.. Let us know if you like these type of posts too!

Haul: KIKO Cosmetics

Hi girls, we've finally got around to posting our KIKO haul!

So many people have raved about KIKO and how amazing they are, especially their lip liners, I don't know why it took us so long to go but when we eventually did, we went a little crazy. (There was so much more that we wanted, trust me!) They have such a wide variety of makeup in there, they literally have everything, from makeup to nail polishes to skincare products to travel essentials.. On and they have the cutest little shopping baskets!

Anyways like always, everything will be linked..
302 - Natural Pink
308 - Bordeaux
~ £4.20 each ~
Absolutely love these lip liners, highly pigmented and a very good price. However the colour of 302 isn't really a 'natural pink' as the name suggests, it's more of a peachy nude. 302 is a great dupe for MAC's 'Nice n Spicy'.

503 - Hot Pink
504 - Mauve
~ £5.90 each ~
These lip liners last much longer than the previous one, I don't find myself reapplying this during the day.

Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow 07 - Golden Beige
~ £6.90 ~
Bronze Metallic Eye Pencil 02 - This was Limited Addition so it's no longer on the website, sorry!

~ £6.90 ~
Love this eyeliner by KIKO, the tip of the applicator is super thin so you can control how thick you go, the colour is also jet black and very concentrated providing you've dipped it fully in the pot. I've have realised some fading of the liner by the end of the day. I would definitely repurchase as it is so fast to apply due to the perfect and precise point!
According to makeup magicians @SoniaxFyzaKIKO's lasting gel eyeliner is on their top
'Blackest eyeliners EVER list', you can read their blog post here.

~ £1.00 each ~
From left to right

322 - Caffe Latte
321 - Dove
380 - Medium Grey
326 - Graphite Gray

Hope you liked our little haul!
